Gov. Fubara Committed To Prioritizing Health Of Rivers Vulnerable People – RIVCHPP Boss Assures

The Executive Secretary Of The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Agala has assured that Governor Siminialayi Fubara is committed to prioritising the health of the vulnerable population in the state through RIVCHPP equity and the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF).

Dr. Agala, who gave the assurance in her office, today, Tuesday, 26th May, 2026, when she granted audience to the Medical Women’s Association of Nigeria (MWAN), Rivers State Chapter, AIM MNCNH Champions who made an advocacy visit to her office. She also informed that the state government has provided Equity fund to cater to the health needs of this set of the population.

The Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of RIVCHPP, then informed her August visitors that, “we are trying all our possible best using the resources at our disposal to enroll all vulnerables persons into the State health insurance program. The governor has given us express powers to operate without encumbrances.”

Dr.Agala went further to say that the health insurance agency is also trying its best to ensure that all pregnant women who are enrolled into its programmes deliver safely to reduce newborn and maternal mortality rate in our state.

Earlier in her remarks, the State lead of MWAN, Dr. Cecilia Nwibubasa, appreciated RIVCHPP for its robust health insurance coverage, saying the visit is centered on ways the Champions are to collaborate with RIVCPP on strengthening maternal, newborn, and child health outcomes in the state.
The MWAN Lead, who commended the work of RIVCHPP towards improving the health of the people, encouraged the health insurance agency to see to the implementation of its existing strategies so as to get more and more Rivers residents enrolled into its programmes.
