As part of his administration’s commitment to ensure energy security, drive utility, and cut high fuel costs, President Bola Tinubu has directed the mandatory procurement of compressed-natural-gas- CNG powered vehicles by all government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).
The directive was disclosed in a statement by the spokesman of the president, Chief Ajuri Ngelale on Monday.
According to Ngelale, the directive aims to further Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy sources. CNG-enabled vehicles are recognized for their lower emissions and affordability, offering a sustainable alternative for Nigerian energy consumers.
While addressing members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja, Mr Tinubu stressed the importance of energy reforms initiated by his administration, declaring there would be no regression in these efforts.
“We must set the example as public officials in leading the way to a prosperous future,” stated the President. “It starts with us, and in demonstrating our commitment, Nigerians will follow our lead.”
