Gun Battle Rattles Gov. Soludo Isuofia Village: Security Forces Kill Two Gunmen, Lose One Operative

The Anambra State Joint Security Team on the evening of Thursday, May 15, 2025, repelled a violent attack by armed criminals at a security checkpoint in Isuofia, resulting in the neutralization of two of the assailants, the death of one security operative, and the burning of an operational vehicle by the fleeing bandits.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the coordinated response from the Joint Security Team forced the criminals to abandon one of their operational vehicles—a Toyota Sienna—as they escaped the scene under pressure from the team’s superior firepower.

“One of the Anambra Joint Security Team in the late evening of 15th May 2025 resisted an attack by armed criminals at the Security checkpoint in Isuofia. Two of the armed hoodlums were neutralized in the process. Regrettably, one of the security operatives was fatally wounded, while one of the security operational vehicles was burnt by the bandits,” the statement read.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, has strongly condemned the incident, describing it as a test of the collective resolve of Ndi Anambra to work with security agencies to uproot criminal elements from the state.

“This act is viewed as a test of the collective resolve of Ndi Anambra working with security forces to dislodge the criminal elements in the State,” CP Orutugu stated, while assuring that the command “will apprehend the perpetrators behind this unpatriotic act.”

The police further confirmed that calm has since returned to the area. “Security [has been] reinforced with more armed operatives currently combing nearby bushes for possible arrest of the fleeing miscreants,” SP Ikenga added.

The Police Command pledged to provide further updates as investigations and manhunt operations progress.
