According to reports, Martins was kidnapped recently from his family house. The kidnappers demanded ransom, but unfortunately, his life was lost despite efforts to secure his release.

Reacting to the incident, Uzu Okagbue, the YPP Deputy Governorship candidate, has condemned the constant killing and insecurity in Anambra State. He expressed his condolences to the family and called for increased security measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

Uzu wrote:
It is yet another black day in Anambra; a land of promise now drenched in pain. A day that drags the heart through thorns, that mocks every hope once held for a better tomorrow. A day that reminds us, once again, that we are being governed by shadows, not leaders. By empty noise, not vision. By cowardice, not courage.

“Martins, this wound cuts deep.
We are shattered, not just by your tragic murder by criminals after you were kidnapped in your family house, but by the deafening silence and criminal irresponsibility of an administration that has handed over our streets to monsters. We are not just grieving a brother, a son, a light, we are confronting a truth more brutal than bullets: there is no government in Anambra State.

“What we have is a regime of press releases and photo ops, while blood soaks our soil and fear rules our nights. Our people are slaughtered like animals. The wicked walk freely. The righteous are buried silently. And all we hear from the government house are echoes of confusion, denial, and helplessness.

“I can only begin to imagine the pain of a mother whose vibrant, visionary son, so full of hope and plans for his family, is suddenly no more. It’s truly unimaginable. Nne, Ndo! Ezi na ulo Onyekesi, Ndo nu!

Who is next?

“This is no longer a happenstance; it is a death rattle. The spirit of Anambra is fading, gasping, suffocating beneath the weight of a failed and absent government.

“Where are the leaders? Hiding behind protocol and tinted windows while our best and brightest fall. Where is the outrage from those elected to protect us? Have we become so accustomed to mourning that we now embrace it like tradition?

“Shame on every one of us who folds their arms in silent surrender.
Shame on a government that has normalized death, glorified mediocrity, and abdicated its duty to govern.
Shame on us for praying when we should be organizing; whispering when we should be screaming, and for waiting when we should be acting!

“Anambra, this is not about politics. This is about survival.
This is about reclaiming our future from a system that has betrayed our dead and endangered our living.

“We must rise!
We must rid this state of the criminals in our streets, and the complicit administration that let them roam
