Gunmen suspected to be cultists on Thursday February 5,2026 at about 6pm killed one Chigozie Oluwu and abducted the President of Omoku Youth Federation,Comrade Ifeanyi Azuazu at a popular drinking joint along Ogolo street,off Palace road in Omoku,Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area(ONELGA) of Rivers State, We learnt.
We gathered that the gunmen numbering about seven came in two vehicles and upon sighting the Youth President, pointed gun at him while ordering him to get inside the car but Mr Oluwu who is said to be Azuazu’s personal aide intervened and was shot dead by the gunmen, who succeeded in abducting the Youth President.
The incident resulted to pandemonium as passersby and residents scampered for safety while some business owners hurriedly closed their shops for the day.
Meanwhile the ONELGA Security and Planning Advisory Committee (OSPAC) has recovered the headless and lifeless body of the Youth President at a forest in Omuku on Friday afternoon.
The Spokesperson for OSPAC in ONELGA,Godnews Nkem confirmed the incident in a telephone interview with our reporter.
Mr Nkem said Chigozie Oluwu was shot dead at the Youth President’s house while the lifeless body of the Youth President, Ifeanyi Azuazu was found in a forest on Friday afternoon by OSPAC hours after his abduction by Gunmen.
The Spokesperson for OSPAC advised residents of Omoku to remain calm and allow the Police,DSS and other relevant security agencies carry out their investigation with a view to arresting the culprit.
Meanwhile the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command,CSP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the killing of Chigozie Oluwu and the abduction, beheading and recovering of the corpse of Omoku youth President, Ifeanyi Azuazu.
CSP Koko further asserted that the killing is cult related and the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju has ordered a full scale investigation into the incident with a view to apprehending perpetrators
