A security guard and father of three children,Ifeanyi Ani who hails from Enugu state was allegedly beaten to death by a customer at a Popular eatery close to shell gate in Rumukrushi,Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State on Thursday evening,March 27th,2025.
According to a source,on Thursday a customer(whose name is still under wrap) who came to purchase food at the eatery parked his car, and left his head lamp on .
The source disclosed that the security guard went to tell the owner of the car to put off his light but found out,it is the wife of the man that was in the car.
Our source revealed that while the security guard was telling the man’s wife to dim the head lamp, the owner of the car came out and asked him(security guard) what he was telling the wife.
The security guard was said to have told the owner of the vehicle to dim his light which resulted to altercation between them and the customer allegedly punched the security guard severally which led to his collapse and eventual death.
We gathered that the management of the eatery arrested the customer and handed him over to Mini-Okoro Police Division.
Speaking on the incident,Prince Wiro a human rights advocate said, a sister to the security guard, Chinaza Ani had earlier approached his organization,Centre for Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign and its Partner,Lawyers Watch For Justice International Initiative(LAWJII) in quest for justice but later told them to stay action,that the family wants to have meeting with certain persons.
Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident adding that investigation is ongoing.
