The Imo State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in its efforts to curb criminal activities in Owerri, arresting 17 suspects involved in armed robbery, kidnapping, car snatching, cultism, and other related offences.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, who disclosed this, said the arrests were made possible through “robust security strategies, including intelligence-led raids of suspected criminal hideouts and intensified visibility patrols, particularly at night.”
Speaking on the development, CP Danjuma said, “The Command is committed to ensuring the safety and security of residents. We will not relent in our efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.”One of the notable arrests was made on November 13, 2025, when police operatives apprehended two suspected armed robbers and car snatchers at Emmanuel College/Wetheral Junction. The suspects were found with two locally made firearms, five live cartridges, and a stolen white Hijet Shuttle bus.

The Commissioner of Police reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to residents’ safety, warning criminals to desist or face the law.
He said that the suspects were currently undergoing investigation and would be arraigned soon.
He therefore urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
