Irate Fans Storm Pitch, Attack Officials As Kwara United Host Rivers United

There was chaos at the Kwara State Stadium in Ilorin on Wednesday, February 18, following the Nigeria Premier Football League clash between Kwara United and Rivers United, as angry fans reportedly attacked match officials and members of the Rivers United team.

Videos circulating on social media show scenes of panic at the stadium, with players, officials and spectators running for safety as violence broke out after the match. Match officials were reportedly beaten by some Kwara United supporters, although the extent of their injuries is yet to be officially confirmed.

In a related development, the General Manager of Rivers United, Chief Okechukwu Kpalukwu, was also allegedly assaulted during the unrest. Photos shared online show him with visible injuries, suggesting he was attacked in broad daylight amid the chaos.
