Jubilations As Late Police Officer’s Daughter Gets PCRC/Russelsmith 500K Succour After 6 years Of Father’s Death

Twenty-Five Year old Oyemebitari, daughter of late Inspector of Police, Theophilus Jonah in Special Protection Unit of Nigeria Police received succour on Tuesday,

December 23, 2024 six years after her father’s death as Police Community Relations Committee(PCRC) in partnership with Russelsmith group gifted her five hundred thousand naira in support of her education.

It was an emotional and exciting moment for Oyemebitari at the Police Officer’s Mess, PortHarcourt, Rivers State as she lacked words to express her joy on the kind gesture of PCRC and the company.

In an interview with Journalists, Chairman of (PCRC), Rivers State Voke Emore said “this is what we have been preaching that the Police should be recognized as human beings and not just people with arms.

“We have been looking for this family since 2018 .Today the family will have joy that even after a long time, their father was still remembered.That is what the PCRC stands for and there is nothing as Special as that and that is what the PCRC is trying to do, to create that bridge between the community and the Police.

“Today we can see someone rewarded for hard work even after he died many years ago,it is really heart warming and brings us Joy as PCRC.

“It will come as Joy to her, to take her father’s legacy to another level.Today all her educational issues are resolved, she also has promise of a job.This is what anybody will wish for “It is what we have always wanted.We wanted people to appreciate the Police for their sacrifice and service to the country.This particular kind gesture goes a long way to encourage others to start appreciating the Police officers who are very diligent in their work”.

On his part, Engr Precious Omo-Agege,Vice President Russelsmith group said “the reason why I am here today is because I had a Policeman that worked with me some years back and he died in the process.He felt sick and did not return back to where he was working.

“I felt touched and tried to reach out to the family but it was very difficult and challenging. It took quite some years but today I am happy that I was able to reach out to the daughter who was someone the Man was always talking about.

“When I could not reach out to the daughter, I kept trying until recently when I got in touch with a Policeman who was his colleague,who helped me tracked the daughter and brought the child to me.

“Today we came up with little token,this is because I spoke with the child and she told me some few challenges she is encountering.The challenge was payment of her fees in the University,to enable her do her clearance.

“We will also open up more opportunities for her in future as someone carrying the late father’s legacy.I called the Chairman of PCRC,representative of the Police to come into the collaboration to show that we appreciate people who are working with us.

“We believe that if you are committed in your work we as an establishment have to motivate you to work harder”.

Miss Oyemebitari in her response thanked PCRC and the company for their kind gesture, she said tearfully, I am overwhelmed by this, when they called me, I wasn’t expecting it but coming here to receive this huge amount of money is a big surprise. I am really grateful.

Superintendent of Police, SP Efiko Bassey of SPU unit representative of the Nigeria Police was also in attendance.
