The Lagos State government, through its Safety Commission, says it will ban nightclubs in the state regarding the use of drugs and firearms within their premises.
The Director-General of the Commission, Lanre Mojola stated that the state government maintained a zero-tolerance policy towards the use of drugs and firearms in nightclubs.
According to Mojola, the commission will work in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to address the issue.
During a meeting with nightclub owners in Lagos, Mojola also highlighted the distressing presence of underage individuals in many nightclubs, which was against the law. The commission urged nightclub owners to strictly enforce age restrictions and ensure that only individuals of legal drinking age were allowed entry.
It warned that failure to comply with the requirement might result in severe penalties and possible closure of the establishment. The commission urged nightclub owners to strictly enforce age restrictions and ensure that only individuals of legal drinking age were allowed entry.
