Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur played out a 1–1 draw at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Dominik Szoboszlai gave Liverpool the lead in the 18th minute with a long-range free-kick, while both teams created several chances during the match. However, Tottenham secured a late equaliser through Richarlison in the final minute of normal time.
Liverpool manager Arne Slot welcomed back goalkeeper Alisson Becker from injury as the Reds made five changes from their midweek Champions League clash with Galatasaray in Istanbul. Jeremie Frimpong, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Andy Robertson also returned to the starting line-up.
Liverpool’s starting XI included Alisson, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Florian Wirtz, Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Andy Robertson, Jeremie Frimpong, Ryan Gravenberch and Rio Ngumoha.
The hosts dominated possession in the early stages, but Tottenham created the first notable chances. Souza nearly converted Dominic Solanke’s cutback before testing Alisson with a swerving effort that the Brazilian goalkeeper tipped over the bar.
Liverpool eventually took the lead in the 18th minute after Alexis Mac Allister won a free-kick about 20 yards from goal. Szoboszlai stepped up and curled the ball over the wall into the net despite a touch from Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario.
The Reds pushed for a second goal, with Ryan Gravenberch firing over the bar from the edge of the area. Florian Wirtz later created an opportunity for Ngumoha inside the box, but Pedro Porro blocked the attempt.
Liverpool came close again when Mac Allister set up Gakpo on the edge of the area, but his shot struck the base of the post after beating Vicario.
Tottenham threatened before the break as Richarlison headed wide from a Mathys Tel delivery. The Brazilian forward later directed a corner towards goal, but Alisson produced a save to maintain Liverpool’s lead at half-time.
In the second half, Ngumoha remained active for Liverpool, sending a shot just wide from a Frimpong cross before having another effort saved by Vicario.
Richarlison also tested Alisson at the other end after controlling a long pass and firing a shot that the Liverpool goalkeeper turned behind.
Liverpool made a triple substitutionshortly after the hour mark, bringing on Hugo Ekitike, Curtis Jones and Mohamed Salah for Frimpong, Ngumoha and Wirtz.
Salah nearly extended Liverpool’s lead after capitalising on a defensive lapse, but his effort across goal narrowly missed the bottom corner.
Tottenham continued to press for an equaliser, with Richarlison narrowly missing Archie Gray’s cross while Xavi Simons forced another save from Alisson.
Spurs eventually found the equaliser in the 90th minute when Richarlison swept the ball into the net from close range after a pass across the area from Randal Kolo Muani.
The match was attended by 60,386 spectators at Anfield.
