National Grid Gets Major Boost As TCN Restores Critical 330kV Transmission Line

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed the successful restoration of the 330kV Shiroro–Mando Transmission Line 2 following the completion of extensive repair works, marking a significant boost to Nigeria’s power transmission network.

According to Ireporter Online, the announcement was made on Monday through a statement issued on the company’s official platform by its General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah. She disclosed that the transmission line was successfully re-energised at 8:32 p.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026, after thorough technical interventions carried out by TCN engineers.

Mbah explained that the restoration exercise was undertaken with a strong focus on preserving the operational integrity and long-term reliability of the infrastructure. She noted that all repair works were executed in strict compliance with established safety and quality standards to guarantee optimal performance.

With both Line 1 and Line 2 now fully operational, the Shiroro–Mando 330kV transmission corridor has been completely restored. The development is expected to significantly improve Kaduna Electric’s capacity to transmit bulk electricity across its franchise areas, enhance network flexibility, and reinforce the stability of the national grid.

Industry observers describe the reactivation of both circuits as a major milestone in TCN’s ongoing efforts to modernise and strengthen Nigeria’s transmission infrastructure. The company emphasised that the restoration will contribute to improved grid stability and more reliable power supply nationwide.

TCN also expressed appreciation to customers and stakeholders for their patience and cooperation during the outage, reiterating its commitment to building a more resilient, efficient, and dependable national grid for the benefit of all Nigerians.
