The pulling-out ceremony Of first female Secretary of Nigerian Police Force (NPF) Yetunde Longe, was held today at the Police College, Ikeja,and was graced by police officers,family members and friends of Longe,who retired as an Assistant Inspector-General of Police(AIG).
Mrs Yetunde Longe, pulled out of the force on Tuesday ,after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60 year as the Nigeria Police Force first female Secretary.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of South-West, Mr Abiodun Alabi,was among senior officers present at the ceremony.
Reflecting on her journey in the force ,Longe said she felt fulfilled serving in the NPF.
“As I retire from the Nigeria Police Force, after reaching the mandatory age of 60 years, I am filled with a sense of pride, of compliment and fulfillment,” she said.
Longe described her career as an incredible, fulfilling journey, dotted with formidable challenges.
She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve alongside dedicated officers, committed to upholding the law and protecting communities across the country.
AIG Longe also thanked her colleagues, superiors, family and friends for their support throughout her career, saying she would uphold the principles of service, integrity, and excellence in her future endeavours.
“As I embark on a new chapter in my life, I do so with a sense of optimism, excitement, and readiness for whatever challenges and opportunities that lie ahead,” she said.
The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Olukayode Egbetokun, who was represented by DIG Alabi, praised the professionalism of Longe while in service, urging police officers to emulate her exemplary service.
Egbetekun praised Longe’s bravery, commitment and integrity, pointing out that her career was marked by countless acts of humility and compassion.
“We continue to draw from your inspiration, we continue to draw from your wealth of experience that you have shown in the course of your career.
“Your career has been a remarkable one, marked with countless acts of humility, compassion and propriety.
“You have faced a lot of challenges in the domain of policing in the entire nation,” the I-G said.
Egbetekun further acknowledged Longe’s unique position as the only female to have served as the Force Secretary,saying her dedication to duty and exemplary achievements in the force were noteworthy
“You really impacted positively on the force. We are so proud of you,” Egbetokun said.
