Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara says the peace efforts of some individuals in the state are gradually yielding the desired results.
In a statement on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor stated that genuine development could only thrive in an atmosphere of unity and stability.
Fubara said this during a civic reception in honour of his Deputy Governor, Prof. Ngozi Odu, held at Government Secondary School in Akabuka community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area.
The governor, who urged citizens to fully embrace peace so that development projects can flourish, said he was encouraged by growing signs of unity and reconciliation across the state.
“We can’t develop in an environment of chaos. We can’t attract any project to Akabuka when there is a problem.
“Our disposition has always been towards maintaining peace because it is the only way we can move forward,” he said.
