Peter Obi who is the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) alongside other South-East political leaders.
The announcement was made in Enugu State, where they pledged to collaborate with opposition leaders to “rescue Nigeria from the poor governance of the All Progressives Congress (APC)”.
Those present included former Deputy Speaker Emeka Ihedioha, Senators Ben Obi, Victor Umeh, Tony Nwoye, and Gilbert Nnaji, among others.
Notable attendees also included former Senate President David Mark, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, and former governors from the South-East.
Obi stated that their decision follows months of consultations, aiming to bring about transformative leadership and prioritize Nigerians’ welfare in 2027.
He emphasized unity among opposition groups, saying, “No one group can change Nigeria alone”.
