Unknown armed men have burnt at least 96 houses in Gyenbwas, in Langai district, Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau state.
Reports said the men stormed the community and boldly looted food, mattresses, cattle, and other valuables.
Speaking on the issue, the traditional ruler and Madugun Langai, Alhaji Yakubu Umar said they have recovered bodies of persons killed during the attack.
He said apart from the two persons killed on Monday, one more body was recovered on Tuesday, bringing the death toll to three.
The community accused the Berom ethnic group of launching the attack, which they denied.
Umar lamented “We have never experienced such atrocities. The perpetrators burned working equipment, clothes, foodstuffs, and other items. They also looted goods worth millions of Naira. We live peacefully with everyone and that is why we are very surprised.”
The traditional leader then sought the intervention of the Mangu LGA and the Plateau government to get to the bottom of the attack, adding that there was a need to send aid to the victims.
