Police Arrest Suspected Child Trafficker Fleeing With Stolen 5-Year-Old Girl In Anambra

Police operatives in Anambra State have arrested a 32-year-old man, Joshua Simeon, at Nkpor Central Park while attempting to elope with a five-year-old girl, Nkemdilim Jacob. The suspect, originally from Ebonyi State, had allegedly taken the child from her parents in Umuota Village, Obosi, and boarded a commercial vehicle to an undisclosed location when he was intercepted.

The arrest, made on February 1, 2025, was based on credible intelligence received by officers of the Ogidi Area Command. The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation to determine his motives and whether he is linked to a larger child trafficking network.

Meanwhile, efforts are underway to reunite the child with her parents. The Anambra State Police Command has reaffirmed its commitment to protecting children and combating child abduction and trafficking in the state.
