One suspect is now in custody of headquarters of Anti cultism unit of Rivers State Police Command following his arrest at the campus of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Iwofe, Rumulomeni,Obio/Akpor Local Government Area last Monday during a supremacy and territorial control battle between suspected Vikings and Black Axe cult groups,we learnt.
We gathered that suspected members of Black Axe(Aye) was said to have invaded the University in search of their rivals, Vikings (Baggers) cult members in retailation to an attack on an executive member of Aye confraternity last year(12th August,2024) on the institution campus.
In the ensuing fracas last Monday,One suspected cultist was arrested by security personnel at Ignatiius Ajuru Campus and a Baretta pistol was allegedly recovered from the suspect as students scampered for safety.
We learnt that the suspect was taken to Rumulomeni Police Division at Iwofe and later transferred to headquarters of Anti-cultism unit of Rivers Police Command.
The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command,SP Grace Iringe Koko confirmed the incident.
SP Koko said “yes I can confirm the incident.One suspect is in Police custody.Investigation is ongoing and adequate security measures has been put in place to prevent break down of law and order”.
