Rivers Police Sensitizes Public on Election-related Offences, Dangers of Electoral Violence, Safe Driving Practice

The Commissioner of Police, Rivers State Command, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, psc, mnips, alongside Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers, on 1st April 2026, carried out sensitization campaigns aimed at educating members of the public on election-related offences, the dangers of electoral violence, safe driving practices, and strict compliance with traffic regulations.

The engagements and interactive sessions were held simultaneously across Area Command Headquarters, motor parks, and bus stops within various Police Divisions in the Command. During these sessions, election stakeholders and drivers were enlightened, and questions raised by participants were adequately addressed.

Activities marking the celebration in Rivers State will continue on Thursday, 2nd April 2026 (Day Four). As part of the programme, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adewole Adepoju, psc, mnips, will present cheques to the families of deceased personnel of the Nigeria Police Force on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc (+), NPM.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has expressed appreciation to the citizens of Rivers State for their cooperation during the sensitization campaigns and other activities marking National Police Day. He reassured residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to delivering improved service while upholding the rights and dignity of all citizens, and urged officers to remain civil and professional in their interactions with the public.
