Shocks As Bandits Increase Condition For The Release Of 177 Christians Kidnapped From Place Of Worship In Kaduna

Armed bándits who on 17th of January, 2026 invaded several churches in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting 177 worshipers, have now given conditions for their release.

The village head of the affected Kurmin Wali community, Ishaku Dan’azumi revealed that the bàndits through a phone call have made known their demands for the release of the hostages to the community. According to him, the bandits demand N250 million and 20 units of brand new motorcycles as non-negotiable ransom for the release of the kidnapped worshipers.

“The bandits called and said Kurmin Wali community must pay ₦250 million and provide 20 motorcycles before they will release the kidnapped worshippers,” Ishaku Dan’azumi stated.

Recall that on 17th of January, armed bandits invaded Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna abducting worshipers at Cherubim and Seraphim Church 1 and 2, also from Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA). The official number of total worshipers abducted by the bandits is given as 177.

A security operative who spoke on the development on the condition of anonymity, revealed that the location where the victims are being held by the bandits have been identified by Nigeria security forces. He also revealed that the abductors are using the hostages as human shield to avert military offensive.

Also, the governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani in his recent interview on BBC, vowed that the abductees will be freed. He stated that he has discussed with the national security adviser, Nuhu Ribadu as well as heads of Nigeria’s security forces over the kidnapped worshipers and that security forces are determined to secure the hostages release.
