A fierce gun battle is currently raging between the Nigerian Army and unidentified gunmen in Mbata, Umuchima Village, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area of Abia State, according to ABN TV Personnel of the Nigerian Army’s 14 Brigade, Ohafia, and unidentified gunmen in Mbata, Umuchima village, Isiala Ngwa North LGA, Abia State are reportedly engaged in a fierce gun battle.
Sources indicate that the Nigerian Army has deployed over 15 Hilux trucks and armored personnel carriers arrived at Umuchima village around 6 a.m, targeting suspected gunmen, who have established a base in the village near the river that borders Abia State and Mbaise in Imo State.
Soldiers have secured the junctions leading to and from the village while others engage the gunmen in the surrounding bush.
As of this report, gunfire can still be heard in the area.
