Stop Sponsoring Impostors To Cause Disunity In Ogoniland, MOSOP Tells NDDC MD, Ogbuku

Attention of the leadership of the Movement For The Survival of Ogoni People, MOSOP, has been drawn to a statement by an imposter, Feghalo Nsuke wherein he claimed to be president of MOSOP and also supporting the exclusion of the bonafide leadership MOSOP by the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, in the just concluded Niger Delta Summit.

Nsuke in his statement had commended the MD of NDDC for the summit and expressed readiness to work with him to develop Ogoniland.

Whereas MOSOP recognises the freedom of expression by anybody, however, we wish to state the following:

1. That Feghalo Nsuke is not the President of MOSOP and does not have any right to issue a statement on behalf of MOSOP.

2. That we condemn that press statement by Feghalo Nsuke and regrets that Feghalo Nsuke is becoming a sold out in the Ogoni struggle.

3. That it is shameful for Feghalo Nsuke to allow himself to be used by enemies of Ogoni to be a stumbling block on the wheel of progress of the Ogoni Nation.

4. That by virtue of that statement we declare Feghalo Nsuke an enemy of Ogoni struggle and that Ogoni people should be wary of him as one of those selling Ogoni out.

5. We equally accuse the MD of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku of sponsoring Feghalo Nsuke to disparage the bonafide leadership of MOSOP, and for being responsible for splinter groups in Ogoniland and Niger Delta region aimed at deceiving Mr. President that he’s actively working whereas he is not.

6. That the MD of NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku is causing disunity in Ogoniland and other Niger Delta communities by sponsoring splinter groups to garner support for his inactive administration.

7. That that we condemn this action in it’s totality and advised Dr. Samuel Ogbuku to desist from further dividing the Niger Delta people through his sponsorship of splinter groups to speak for him against bonafide concerns raised by genuine stakeholders like MOSOP.

8. That Dr. Samuel Ogbuku cannot claim to be ignorant of the fact that Ken Saro-Wiwa and other Ogoni leaders struggled and lost their lives for the Niger Delta region and especially for the rights of indigenous people. Their death won’t go in vain.

9. That security agencies should hold Feghalo Nsuke responsible should there be any crisis in Ogoniland as a result of his utterances.
