Enugu State Police Command has arrested three men suspected of vandalising high-voltage power cables in Aninri Local Government Area.
The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe.
According to the statement, the suspects were identified as Chukwu Kelvin (25), Kenechukwu Ude (25), and Uche Nwankwo (28).

According to the police, the suspects were found transporting lengths of vandalised aluminium cables concealed under cassava leaves in a white minibus with registration number ENU 450 XK.
The police also recovered one large cable cutter, two pairs of rubber gloves, and a bag containing clothes.
Ndukwe said that the suspects have confessed to having vandalised the cables from electric poles along Ukete Road in Oduma community and were on their way to sell them at the New Artisan Market in Enugu.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, reiterated the command’s commitment to “fishing out vandals and other criminals bent on destroying and denying citizens the enjoyment of essential social amenities.”
“We call on the public to continue to support the Police in this quest,” Giwa said.
The suspects will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the investigation.
