The Universal Basic Education Board Chairman, Alabo David T. Briggs has once again shown transparency as he ordered the immediate refunds of illegal payments of #1.6 million Naira Collected by Principals in two Schools at Obio-Akpor local Government Area.
This illegal payment was collected in forms of:
Examination fee,
Registration fee,
Maintenance fee and
Junior WAEC Fee by the school Principals despite various warnings by the Board Chairman stating that it’s against the principles of Universal Basic Education and Nigeria Free Education scheme.
This happens to be the second time since his appointment as Chairman UBE Board Rivers State he’s showing high level of consideration knowing the Economic Situation in the Country.
The Board Chairman was ably Represented By chief Dr. Nwuke Anucha Board member in charge of monitoring and Supervision who led a team of;
Mrs Flora Timon – Director Special Programmes,
Mrs Ebele Ngelali – Director Social Mobilization, Barr Emmanuel Micha (ANCOPSS President), Mr Otuji Goodwill Ibabor (AOPSHON Chairman), Mr Tobins Micha (ANCOPSS state Sec.),
Dr Chukwu Heanyi ( AOPSHON State Sec), Who where charged with directives of immediate refunds to parents of Students in the schools.
Chief Dr Anucha, advised the students that paid to inform their parents to come for immediate collections and also instructed the Class teachers to attend to them immediately they come as regards to their child or ward.
Alabo David T. Briggs emphasized on the Mantra of Free Education and no Parent(s) Should be made to pay any money without the approval from the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Board.
