Unknown Gunmen Kidnaps Catholic Priest, Attached To UNZIK Campus

It was a tragicomedy in Anambra as a Catholic Priest was reportedly kidnapped, while estimated 10 unknown gunmen were neutralized at Orsumoghu and Orsuihteukwa axis of the state.

Reports had it that the Rev Fr Stanislaus Mbamara a student of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka but attached to the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi was kidnapped while returning to Nnewi from Awka.

According to the release by the Chancellor of Nnewi Catholic Diocese Rev Fr Raphael Ezogu the Priest was kidnapped in June 2nd 2023 and taken to an unknown destination and no contact has been established praying for his quick release.

Though the Anambra state Police Command is yet to speak on these two incidents the Joint Task Force on Security JTF stormed some of the Camps of the suspected gunmen in the two Communities of Orsumoghu and Orsuihteukwa in Ihiala and Oru East Council areas of Imo and Anambra state and neutralized the suspects.

Though it is not clear yet the number of the gunmen that were neutralized, unconfirmed reports had it that the number is more than ten gang members who have been involved in interstate attacks, adding that it is being suspected that they may be part of the gang members of a kingpin that were neutralized in the state alongside four of his men by security operatives three weeks ago.

Meanwhile the Anambra state Commissioner for Homeland Matters Chief Chikaodi Anaghara has urged members of the public not to panic as security operatives have uncovered a plot by suspected gunmen to commence operations in Awka Capital.

Anara noted that officers and men of the Joint Task Force have taken strategic positions to nip them on the board through its twenty four hours operations.
