Video: Rivers CP Trains Officers On Riots Drills, Use of Firearms, CPR, Responding To Fire Emergencies

As part of efforts to enhance its personnel operational efficiency in responding to emergencies, The Rivers state police command has trained some Officers in riot drills, use of firearms, attending to domestic and operational emergencies.

The state Commissioner of police CP Olatunji Disu while observing the trained officers at the drill parade ground at Mopol 19 Barracks in port Harcourt said the training is aimed at getting the personnel to save life and properties during emergencies and also defend themselves

“This has to do with directives by the Inspector General of police who had directed that all commissioners of police should ensure that their officers are Healthy, healthwise, ready and conversant with their tools. and that is what we have seen demonstrated today”

“we have seen our officers on riots drills forming the tactical formation , riot drills on how to tackle different kinds of demonstrations, As you can see , before you they assembled and dismantled their riffles and again they are conversant with the use of their firearms and they know when to inflate their firearms to defend and protect lives and properties and also protect themselves”.

CP Disu added that we have ended it here to today by having a training in First-aid and CPR, We added how to tackle fire emergencies.

The commissioner of police Cp Disu further assured that the training would be taken to  all the police divisions to effectively combat crimes at all levels.

“Yes we are going to do it stage by stage, we have fifty officers taking the training on CPR and First-aid and it will continue because its a continuous thing and for officers taking training on riots drills, tactical formations, its trickling down to all divisions at least about twenty divisions have been trained to tackle riots and be able to handle fire incase of emergencies and most importantly to listen to their lecturers on how to save life in an emergency situations and resuscitate somebody who is no longer breathing he said”.

Our Correspondent reports that the CP one day Training Programme on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid was beneficial as trained personnel were also drilled to respond to mock drills of resuscitation and fighting real fire
