Courts Invokes Order Of Mandamus, Mandates DSS To Grants Nnamdi Kanu Unrestricted Access To His Medical Doctors

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, coram Hon. Justice Nyako, in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/2341/2022, today granted leave to Mazi Nnamdi Kanu for an order of Mandamus to be invoked, mandating the State Security Services (DSS) and its Director General, to grant Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unrestricted access to his medical Doctors

Justice Nyako, on Wednesday, delivered ruling on an application that bordered on the need for urgent medical attention to Nnamdi Kanu, argued by Mike Ozekhome, SAN, led by Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor and a team of lawyers.

The court, in a ruling delivered on Wednesday, consequently granted leave for judicial review in the form of order of Mandamus, compelling the State Security Services, and its Director General to allow Nnamdi Kanu UNHINDERED ACCESS to his medical doctors to enable them conduct an INDEPENDENT EXAMINATION of his present deteriorating health condition as earlier ordered by the Court on the 21st day of October, 2021. Justice Nyako, also granted leave for an order of mandamus compelling the State Security Services and its Director General, to provide Nnamdi Kanu with ALL HIS MEDICAL RECORDS, from the 29th Day of June, 2021,when he was remanded in the custody of the DSS, till date.

Kanu’s lead counsel, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, said the application is aimed at ensuring that the DSS will not hide under any indiscretion to treat with levity the deteriorating health condition of Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
