OPTS Donates Cold Chain Storage Equipments To Rivers State Govt To Boost Immunization Coverage

The River State Government has reaffirmed its commitment in tracking result oriented partnerships to strengthen the state health sector.

This coming as some IOC donates Vaccine storage Equipments to the Primary Health care management board with Dozens of Cold chain equipment from the oil producers Trader Section OPTS. the Private sectors and oil and gas industries

Speaking during the handover of the Cold chain equipment to the Rivers state Ministry Of Health today at the Primary healthcare management Board, the commissioner for Health, Dr Adaeze Oreh revealed that the rivers state government has achieved tremendous success in reducing mortality amongst newborn and infants under the age of five to Zero through committed investments in the health sector

.

She also highlighted significant increase in immunisation coverage and a reduction in maternal mortality during pregnancy and childbirth in Rivers state and emphasized on the need to maintain these positive trends, She said the children under the age Five are the critical populations that benefits from such partnership and thanked the OPTS for the donation. which she said will enhance Immunization and quality healthcare delivery in the state

on his part the executive director of Oil Producers Trade Section of the Lagos state chamber of commerce Gueke Ajaifia acknowledged Rivers state as the cradle of oil and gas sector in the country and thanked Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s efforts in restoring confidence so international investors can come back to the State, through his exceptional leadership style.

He said  “OPTS Recognizes its social corporate responsibilities as an association of the oil and gas companies in Nigeria comprising of five IOCs, and twenty-five Nigerian companies, is committed to taking care and ensuring a healthy living of their host communities, especially people who live in the remote areas. “as rivers state is where most oil companies established its major oil productions said their donations to the health sector was to support the Immunisation program and commend the Rivers state government for their efforts

Unfortunately, people have left the Rivers State because of the past crisis and that has affected the development but we are happy that things have changed for better.

“These equipment’s have been donated to support the immunisation programme, in order to maintain potency of this vaccine, it is important that we store them properly.

Also speaking at the Donation handover ceremony. The Executive Director of Primary healthcare management Board, DR Kinikawon Green Represented represented by the Director, Community Health Dr, Joy Wihioka promised to put the cold chain Equipments donated to good use, noting that such equipment’s are in constant use and are subjected to wear and tear
