The Executive Secretary of the Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP), Dr. Vetty Agala has called for stronger collaboration between government and community stakeholders to support healthcare interventions and improve access to quality healthcare services across Rivers State.
Dr. Agala made the call recently while speaking at the grand opening ceremony of Garden City Clinic in Port Harcourt.
Dr. Agala said that, both the Federal and Rivers State Governments, through counterpart funding, have made available free health care for the vulnerable populations in the state, while the non-vulnerable population are to pay a minimum of #25,000 per annum to access quality healthcare, including surgeries, without getting to pay out of pocket at the point of accessing the healthcare services.
She noted that the state social health insurance programme (RIVCHPP) would achieve greater impact when community leaders and other stakeholders work together to mobilize their people for massive enrollment into the programme.
Dr. Agala, therefore, urged community stakeholders to take ownership of healthcare initiatives within their respective communities and continue to partner with government agencies in promoting healthier communities.
The event had in attendance other distinguished guests, medical practitioners, community leaders, staff of the clinic, and others.
