EFCC Officer Slumps Along Major Road In Lagos, Dies Shortly After

A middle-aged man, identified as a staff member of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), tragically collapsed and died this morning while walking to his office in Lagos.

The incident occurred just minutes ago, in a busy street in the heart of the city. Eyewitnesses reported that the EFCC officer, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, appeared to suddenly lose consciousness while walking and failed flat on the ground. In a viral video shared online, the official, identified only as Sylvanus, was dressed in burgundy traditional attire and lying lifeless on the road.

He was surrounded by several Nigerians, including two police officers, who were attempting to search a small bag he had with him for any means of identification.

With an identity card discovered on him, onlookers in the video repeatedly asked about the deceased’s workplace.

“Where does he work? Ah, it’s EFCC. His ID card is right there,” voices, including that of a policeman, were heard saying in the video.

While the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, confirmed that the investigation into the officer’s death is underway.

Oyewale stated, “The death is being investigated.”

This incident comes barely two weeks after Aminu Salisu, another EFCC official, was killed during a raid in Awka, the capital of Anambra State.
