“I Will Not Perform Unusual Sacrifices Again” – Native Doctor Begs Soludo Govt, After Crocodile Spirit Summoned At His Shrine Fails To Appear

The Anambra state government has paraded John Paul Ezenagu, a native doctor based in Nnewi, over alleged violation of the state’s homeland security law. Ezenagu, popularly known as “Mmou Mmili Afulu Anya,” was also taken to his residence in Nnewi where officials conducted a search of the premises. Ken Emeakayi, special adviser to Governor Chukwuma Soludo on community security, said the native doctor allegedly lured young people with promises of quick wealth.

Emeakayi said Ezenagu encouraged young men and women to bathe in a stream behind his house as part of the ritual.

He said the practice violates provisions of the Anambra homeland security law, adding that the suspect had previously been cautioned by authorities but allegedly continued the practice. He added that after preliminary investigations, the suspect would be handed over to the police and said further investigations would determine whether he would face prosecution.

Ezenagu apologised for his actions while speaking with the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS) and said he was unaware that his activities violated the law. Ezenagu appealed to Soludo, the Anambra state government and residents of the state for forgiveness. He promised not to repeat the act, adding that he dredged the river behind his house and believed he had rights over it.
