Court Fixes April 14th To Hear Motion Filled By Rivers Aggrieved PDP Members

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has fixed the 14th of April, 2026 to hear all pending motions in a suit filed by three aggrieved members of the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State against the State factional Chairman of PDP, AARON CHUKWUEMEKA, Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission, RSIEC.

Other respondents in the matter are PDP, Rivers State government, Obio-Akpor Local Government Council, Port Harcourt City, and Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Councils, their Vice Chairmen and Counselors.

The Claimants, ENYI UCHECHUKWU, WISDOM KALIO and UCHE AMADI in an originating summon are asking the court to determine weather AARON CHUKWUEMEKA led state executive whose congresses that brought them have been nullified can validly submit list of candidates to RSIEC for the just concluded LGA elections by virtue of the judgment of the Rivers State High Court delivered against their emergence.

The claimants also want the court to determine amongst other reliefs weather the Peoples Democratic Party has presented a valid list of candidates to RSIEC through AARON CHUKWUEMEKA as to enable the candidates to have taken part in August 30th 2025 council elections.

Our correspondent reports that when the matter came up in court, counsels to the PDP, Obio-Akpor, Onelga and Port Harcourt City LGA’S who are maily a Senior Advocates of Nigeria, informed the court that they were served the processes on friday, the 13th of March and asked for time to reply on point of law.

Their oral applications were not opposed by the claimants counsel, GLORY CHIZIM-CHINDA and presiding Judge, Justice STEPHEN JUMBO adjourned till 14th of April, 2026 to hear all pending motions and possible ruling before going into the substantive matter.
