Court Orders Nigerian Police To Tender Public Apology, Pay N3m Compensation To Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Over Rights Abuses

A High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, presided by Justice A.M. Oriye has ordered the Nigeria Police to pay the sum of three million naira as compensation to Eze Ekpeye Logbo , Kelvin Anugwo for illegally arresting him on the 10th of September last year and detaining him for 82 days over the death of late S.P. Bako Amgbashim

Justice Oriye while delivering his judgement also ordered the police to tender a public apology to the applicant in a national paper for breach of his fundamental rights including issuing an order of injunction restraining the police from further arresting, threatening or harassing the application in respect to the death of late Bako Amgbashim and awarded the sum of two hundred naira in favor of the applicant

Speaking with journalists Shortly after the judgement, counsel to Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Ikashi Saturday Emehi described the judgement as justice for the Ekpeye people
