Despite Court Injunction, Again 25 Rivers Lawmaker Held Plenary Under Tight Security, Elect Major Jack As New Leader

The Rivers state house of assembly led by the lawmaker representing Obio/Akpor constituency one, Martins Amaewhule again head a plenary this morning under tight security at the assembly complex .

Our correspondent gathered that the lawmaker successfully conducted and concluded their legislative business despite an existing court order since crisis erupted leading to legal tussles.

During todays sitting the Lawmaker representing AKUKUTORU Constituency 1 Major Jack was elected as the new Leader of the house and a new chip whip was also elected, our correspondent also report that the 25 Lawmaker  loyal to Minister of FCT also read for the second time, the Rivers state house of assembly financial autonomy bill at todays plenary and also introduced a new bill tagged the Rivers State Local government Amendment bill 2023 and passed vote of confidence on the Martins Amaewhule led 10th assembly leadership.

Our correspondent also reports that the transferred clerk of the house was seen during today plenary. Recall that the house has been embroiled in leadership tussle after the house led by Martins Amaewhule began an impeachment moves against the state Governor Siminalayi Fubara and also removed lawmaker Edison Ehie as leader of the House, both factions in the house have been asked to maintain status quo

“Martins Amaewhule and 24 other Lawmaker held a session today under heavy Police Security at the Rivers State House Assembly as both Clerk and Deputy Clerk were present at the Session.

Recall there is court injunction for both sides to stay action till further notice? Is this not contempt of court?
