Edo LGA Boss Advocates Proper Waste Management Process, Hails Gov Obaseki, Ovia People For Opportunity To Serve

The executive chairman of Ovia south west local government council, Hon Edosa Enowoghomwenma has called on Nigerians to adopt proper waste disposal and management process for a proper hygienic and clean atmosphere.

Enowoghomwenma made this call when receiving award of excellence from the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Edo State Council as part of activities to mark the 2024 world press freedom day.

The team of this year press freedom day is ‘a press for the planet: journalism in the face of environmental crises’.

According to him; this topic chosen by team of schoolers to commemorate this year press freedom day is time. This is because of the environmental crises ravaging the world globally, as journalists, I want to imply every one of your members to continue to report activities that will benefit human existence with concise interest in cleaner environment.

‘In my local government for instance, we have completely changed the narrative by evacuating various refuse dumps which was abandoned for the past fifteen years in the entire LGA.

‘We are launching the second phase in few week, by then, you will see a complete different Ovia south west that can compete with city centres across Nigeria. As an engineer I love good environment.

‘upon my assumption in office as chairman, I saw the need to do more than the needful. Go to corpers (NYSC) members lodge in Iguobazuwa, you will see for yourself. I thank the governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki for championing the revolution in our dear state.

While dedicating the award to the good people of the LGA Enowoghomwenma appreciated his parents, wife and associates for also standing by him.

On his part, the chairman of NUJ, Edo council, Comr Festus Alenkhe admonished journalists in the state to pro conducive environment when writing their report.

Other activities for the event was delivering lecture on the topic by the vice Chancellor of Glorious Vision University, Ogwa Prof Ezekiel Asemah and presentation of another award to the vice Chancellor of Edo University, Uzairue, Engr. Prof Emmanuel Aluyor.
