Man Killed In Anambra Foiled Attempt To Burn Police Station

The Anambra State Police Command, say one hoodlum met his waterloo earlier today when gunmen attempted to burn down the Ogidi Police Station.

DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, said that hoodlums/arsonists stormed the station around 2:15am on Monday but were engaged by the officers on duty and one of them was killed 2hole many expanded cartridges and 25 litres of PMS were recovered.

Ikenga further stated that: “The hoodlums/arsonists came in their numbers with an unmarked Toyota Hiace bus, a Toyota Hilux and three motorcycles, started shooting indiscriminately and attempted to gain access in Ogidi Police Station, Idemili North.

“They were fiercely resisted by Police Officers on duty and due to the superior gunfire of the operatives, the hoodlums flee the scene while one of the armed men was neutralized by the operatives. The Police facility is intact and no casualty was recorded on the side of the Police. ”He also said that “the area has been reinforced by the Tactical teams of the command, and Police operation is still ongoing. Further details shall be communicated, please.”
