Ndigbo Community In Rivers State Disassociate Themselves From The Lucky Ekeji Led Ohanaeze

Ndigbo Community in Rivers State, held its General Meeting on April 19, 2023, during which a motion was proposed by a concerned member and elder statesman of the Igbos in Rivers State, High Chief Uchenna Okokoba. The motion was unanimously adopted by all the members of Ndigbo Community pleasant in the meeting in leading to a vote of no confidence on the leadership of Ohanaeze Indigbo Rivers State, led by Chief Lucky Ekeji. Consequently, it was resolved to disassociate the Indigbo Community in Rivers State from the leadership of Lucky Led Ohanaeze Indigbo Rivers State.

The grounds for this decision include, but are not limited to:

1. Chief Lucky’s apparent lack of interest in the welfare of Igbos in Rivers State, demonstrated on multiple occasions.
2. Misappropriation of funds, much of which were contributed by ordinary Igbos in streets and marketplaces, intended for the betterment of Igbos in Rivers State.
3. Deceptive practices to obtain funds for members and other executives of Ohanaeze Indigbo Rivers State.
4. Failure to provide support or defense for Igbos in times of trouble.
5. Among other reasons.

On 23rd April, 2024, the resolution of the General Meeting was presented to the palace of His Royal Majesty, Eze Sam Nwokolo, the Highest decision making body of Ndigbo Community in Rivers State, by the Executives of the Indigbo Community in Rivers State.

The vote of no confidence on Chief Lucky and the disassociation of the Indigbo Community from his leadership were ratified by all leaders of Ndigbo in Rivers State.

The general public is therefore advised that Igbos in Rivers State have severed ties with Mr. Lucky Ekeji’s leadership of Ohanaeze Indigbo Rivers State. Hence, no individual should engage with him on behalf of the Ndigbo Community in Rivers State, as doing so would be at their own risk.

This information is conveyed in a communique issued by Eze Sam Nwokolo KSC, the Eze Ndigbo of Rivers and Bayelsa, which states in part:

“We hereby stand today to say that Igbo People have disassociated ourselves from one Mr Lucky Ekeji, because a Driver that have insisted that we are not going to get to the promised land, cannot eventually carry you into the promised land.

Lucky Ikeji has shown in all ramifications that he does not like the Igbos, that we should go to our mother states and practice our igboism”

It is crucial that the public is aware of this decision and act accordingly, as the Ndigbo Community in Rivers State will not be liable for any consequences incurred.
