PHCMB Inaugurates Traditional, Religious Leaders Health Committee To Shore-Up Demands For Vaccine/Immunization

To bring health care delivery to the people in the rural communities, the The Rivers state Primary health care Management Board has inaugurated members of the Rivers State Traditional and Religious Leaders Health Committee to boost services delivery in rural areas.

Members of the Primary healthcare givers  ably led by the commissioner of Health  Doctor Adaeze Orieh-Odili  at the inaugurations said the traditional and religious are very important in disseminating information on primary Health care, due to their roles in grassroot mobilizations and closeness to the people.

The Executive Secretary primary health care management board Dr. Kinikanwor Green Who also represented the commissioner for health at the event in port Harcourt said the board is working with relevant stakeholders and Partners in ensuring that Rivers people get the best of healthcare at all levels. He opined that Government has put strategic plans in ensuring that no child is left behind in accessing health care and routine vaccines and immunizations “The Best way to prevent Maternal Child death is to have skilled Birth Attendants” and urge the committee to assist Government in ensuring that the message will be felt at the grassroot

Mr. Tolu who represented One of the Implementing Partners SYDANI Group recalled that people in the Northern Part of the country had queued into the program more than 15YEARS AGO and urge the chairman of the committee to get his members to work assiduously for the benefits of  their communities and religious Organizations

For his part, The Chairman of the committee His majesty Sir Ohna Sargent Awuse( DSSR) NNE-NEW-ELI Emuoha, XIII OLO IV Also speaking on behalf of the group, said the committee will move very fast with the project to drive demand generations. He said it doesn’t matter how long the North started with similar projects but they will ensure the message will get to the right people by mobilizing other Traditional rulers to disseminate the information and that monthly Stipend to non performing traditional ruler will be withheld for one or two months until demands and uptake have improve in that area
