Plateau Lawmaker Raise Alarm Over Renewed Attacks In Mangu LGA , As Over 100 Corpses Of Men, Women, Children Killed Litters 2 Villages

No fewer than 41 persons were killed on Monday night, after gunmen suspected to be killer headsmen StormedĀ  remote villagesĀ  in the dead of the night to attack Fungzai and Kubwat villages in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Plateau Peace Building Director General, Joseph Lengmang, in a post on his verified Facebook page, said he has never seen this scale of carnage and bloodbath.
ā€œThe tragic destruction of homes and killing of innocent people from one village to another is quite troubling,ā€ he said.
ā€œThis is totally condemnable and unacceptable. And even more troubling is the fact that the killings and wanton destruction have continued unabated,ā€
ā€œThe situation is beginning to look more like an earth scorching campaign as opposed to the usual attack on sleepy communities. Something is fundamentally wrong somewhere,ā€
ā€œThere should be a massive deployment of both operation Rainbow and Operation Safe Haven special forces to arrest this very ugly situation from degenerating any further as well as spreading to neighboring local government areas.ā€ he added.

Meanwhile a member of the House of Representatives from Plateau state, Hon. Solomon Maren, has raised the alarm of the killing of over 100 persons in his Mangu/Bokkos federal constituency. Maren in a statement on Wednesday said ā€œit is expedient at this time to intimate the world on the unfortunate happenings in my constituency Mangu/Bokkos federal constituency Plateau state, in the last two days, where over 100 persons, most of them women and children, have been massacred and butchered in cold blood by terrorist during an overnight unprovoked attack, and their houses burnt down including food stuffs, food barns and seedlings.ā€œThese killings are one among many in the constituency, where over 200 persons have been killed in the last four months before this one.

ā€œGovernment may claim to be doing its best but its best is not good enough, since it is not able to stop the killings in years. However, I commend the few gallant officers working without sufficient arms, yet gave themselves to save lives.

ā€œTherefore I urge the President to order the security agencies to move into the area with immediate effect to curb the killings as well as the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) and other well spirited organizations to also move in with relief materials for the wounded survivors of the dastard attack.

ā€œWhile urging for support across boards, I condemn the attack in its entirety and call for calm and no one should take the law into their handsā€, as he commiserated with the government and people of the state.
