Presidential Candidate Test Positive For Covid-19, Urge FG Health Authorities To Dis-allow Political Rallies To Curb Spread

African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Mr Dumebi Kachikwu, has tested positive for Covid-19 and as such cancelled all scheduled political activities lined up for him ahead of the election.

Kachikwu who confirmed his positive test in a statement has as such called on all Nigerians to be vigilant in the wake of reports of a resurgence of the COVID-19 virus.

While noting that he had cancelled all activities, the ADC presidential candidate said he would isolate himself until he obtained a negative test.

While calling on all Nigerians to take the COVID-19 epidemic serious, he said that political rallies should not be allowed to be spreaders of the COVID-19 viruses.

“Nigerians must not let their guard down even though the Government has relaxed COVID rules. Our public health system can’t cope with the fallout of huge infection rates with attendant symptoms especially at a time when our health care professionals are leaving the country in droves. We must increase testing and take all necessary precautions not to spread the virus.“We must not allow political rallies to become COVID spreaders and reverse the gains made in combating the virus. We will survive the Corona Virus if we all remain vigilant.”

This COVID-19 positive test for the ADC presidential candidate is another setback trailing his campaign following a rough tackle from a section of the party leadership that has disowned him.
