Rain Of Ballot Box Snatching As Stray Bullet Allegedly Kills INEC Ad-Hoc Staff In Rivers

Elections in Rivers state today witnessed unprecedented attacks from various quarters, Top on the list of electoral crimes is the snatching of ballot box and papers  recorded across the 23  Local Government areas in the state,

Notably death as result of the ballot box snatching was the incident of a Male INEC Ad-Hoc Staff Shot Dead By A Stray Bullet Of Some Political Thugs;  we gathered  that, the male INEC AD-HOC Staff have been shot dead by a stray bullet of some political thugs who came to hijack electoral materials in Ward seven, Abual Central, in ABUA/ODUAL LGA in Rivers State. Some electorates who witnessed the incident said the political thugs drove into the area shooting in the air sporadically when the stray bullet hit the yet to be identified INEC official.

Reports said the victim died on the way to the hospital he’s been rushed to. police is yet to confirm the information

Meanwhile in seventeen, units five, Egita, Egiland ONELGA, our reporter who captured the voting process, said voting stopped abruptly in that area. When asked, the Polling officer complained that Party Agents are clashing and almost fighting because of their personal interest. An electorate told our reporter that some party agents are influencing the electorates on party to vote for at the polling box. He fight fight almost erupted when the act is not going down well with other party Agents.

However in Ward seven which housed unit five, six and sixteen in one center had the OSPAC taken over the security there where there only one female police officer for each of the unit.

Report coming from Gokana community Rivers State have it that some person held INEC officials hostage for several hours for refusing to transmit election results, with their BVAS machines. The INEC officials attribute the difficulties in transmitting results with their BVAS to poor network in uploading the results, but the people are demanding they transmit the results. Also in Gokana, Only results from four polling LGA, units have been transmitted out of 16 in ward 16, Bera in Gokana LGA.

The electorates in Bera community are demanding their results be transmitted before the INEC officials are allowed to leave the polling Centre.

 

The rack technician for Bera ward 16 says he is working to get the results transmitted.
