Relief International Africa Condemns Chief Eric’s Outburst Against Freedom of Speech

Relief International Africa, a leading human rights and humanitarian organization, strongly condemns the recent outburst by Chief Eric Umeofia, CEO of Erisco Foods Limited, which flagrantly violates the fundamental right to freedom of speech. Chief Eric’s threats against Mrs. Chioma Okoli, who gave a negative review of Erisco tomatoes product, are not only alarming but also indicative of a disregard for consumer rights and basic human decency.
In a viral video circulating on the internet, Chief Eric can be seen making outrageous statements, vowing to go to extreme lengths rather than allow Mrs. Okoli to express her opinion freely. His remarks, particularly his insistence on targeting Mrs. Okoli because of her pregnancy, are deeply troubling and completely unacceptable.

Relief International Africa emphasizes the importance of upholding freedom of speech as a cornerstone of democracy and social progress. Consumers have the right to express their opinions about products and services they have purchased, whether positive or negative, without fear of reprisal or intimidation.
In light of this incident,

Relief International Africa calls upon the Federal Competition & Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to take swift and decisive action to ensure that company owners, like Chief Eric, are held accountable for their actions and are reminded of their obligations to respect the rights of their customers no matter how extreme such views maybe . It is imperative that businesses operate within the bounds of ethical conduct and refrain from engaging in harassment or threats against consumers who exercise their right to provide feedback.

Thus, Relief International Africa urges all stakeholders, including government agencies, civil society organizations, and the general public, to stand in solidarity with Mrs. Chioma Okoli and others who have been subjected to similar injustices. Together, we must work towards creating a society where freedom of expression is safeguarded, and consumer rights are upheld without compromise.
