RIVCHPP Commended For Fair Service Utilisation, Prompt Capitation Payments

Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme (RIVCHPP) has been commended for fair service utilisation, prompt capitation payments, claims management, as well as innovations on digitalisation of the referral process.

The commendations were made when the Executive Secretary/ Chief Executive Officer of the state insurance agency received in audience a ministerial oversight committee of the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) in her office in Port Harcourt within the week.

According to the leader of the team, who was on a monitoring visit, Dr. Longli Dakum, the innovative steps are helping to improve the work process of the agency, even as it helps the agency to aggressively pursue its target of expanding universal health coverage of the state.

Earlier in her remarks, the Executive Secretary of RIVCHPP, Dr. Vetty Agala has enumerated some far-reaching innovative steps and policies that the health insurance agency is embarking on to improve services and expand coverage.

Dr. Agala informed that some of the steps now make it possible for authorisation prompts to get to relevant officers for referrals to be given within minutes.

The Executive Secretary, however, decried the lack of the National Identification Number (NIN) by most persons, which has continued to serve as a challenge in expanding coverage, especially for the vulnerable population.

It would be recalled that the team is in the state for 4 days to carry out an on the spot check on the implementation of BHCPF in accordance with the 2.0 guidelines.
