Rivers NLC Says No Going Back On August 2nd Nationwide Protest

The Rivers State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, says it will adhere strictly to the directive of its National headquarters by mobilizing its affiliate Unions, Market Women, Civil Society Organisations and the public to embark on a peaceful protest scheduled for Wednesday 2nd August 2023 nation wide over the suffering of the Masses over the implementation of the federal government policy on fuel subsidy removal without regard to the poor Masses.
Addressing the State Executive Council members of the Nigeria Labour Congress at the Labour House, Igboukwe street, Port Harcourt today, the state Chairperson of NLC, Comrade Alex Agwanwor urged affiliate Unions to mobilize their members in readiness for the protest which according to him is the right of every citizen.

Comrade Agwanwor also called on the Masses to rise up against obnoxious policies of government which is targeted at the ordinary citizens.
According to him, the Labour movement is to check the excesses of government and therefore upheld the Labour slogan of injury to one injury to all and solicited the involvement of all in the struggle for a better Nigeria.
He said the protest would begin at the state Labour House, 12 Igboukwe street, D/ line, towards Okija street enroute Azikiwe road and terminate at government house.
