Two Still In Critical Condition After Train Multiple Stabbing Attack- UK Police

Two people remain in critical condition following a mass stabbing on a London-bound train in eastern England, British police said, while authorities confirmed the attack is not being treated as a terrorist incident.

Police said that of the 10 people injured, four have now been discharged from the hospital. The two suspects, both born in the U.K., remain in custody: a 32-year-old Black British man and a 35-year-old man of Caribbean descent. Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the attack.

The stabbings occurred Saturday on a train traveling from Doncaster to London’s King’s Cross, near the town of Huntingdon. Passengers described chaotic scenes as bloodied travelers fled the train, some initially thinking the situation might be a prank. Emergency services, including armed officers and air ambulances, quickly responded.

Local police said the train was stopped at Huntingdon station, where officers arrested the two suspects. The initial “Plato” protocol—a national code for potential marauding terror attacks—was activated but later lifted. Counterterrorism units are assisting in the investigation to determine the full circumstances.

Authorities warned it may take time to establish the incident’s cause. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed sympathy for those affected, and local officials described the situation on the train as “horrendous.” London North Eastern Railway reported that service disruptions along the East Coast Mainline will continue through Monday.
