The Rivers State  Police command band on Thursday 30th May,2024 thrilled audience with a symphony of the New national anthem

This is as the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu at an event to commission the Public Complaint Response unit building of the Nigeria Police located inside the premises of the State Police headquarters, Moscow road, in Portharcourt. just a day after the president signed the bill. while Many Nigerians were expecting the old anthem, the ever prepared band beautifully rendered the new anthem to the amazement of distinguished guest at the event, which has thrown the challenge open for all and sundry to learn the new anthem

Recall that upon a successful passage of a new National Anthem Bill, 2024, by the National Assembly of Nigeria, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria- President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-, signed or assented to the Bill on May 29, 2024, which aims to reinstate or revert to the old National Anthem. Some of the general public have criticized this step of reinstating or reverting to the old already repealed National Anthem, while some applauded the idea

The National Anthem contains three (3) stanzas and each of the stanzas emphasizes protection of human rights. The National Anthem is a symbol on its own symbolizing that each of the lines is being read by all Nigerians just like the Preamble to the Nigerian Constitution, 1999 (as amended) which provides that ‘WE THE PEOPLE OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA
