Rivers NAWOJ Tasks Women on PVC Collection As We Merry In The Holidays

The National Association of Women Journalists, (NAWOJ), Rivers State chapter has called on women and the general public who are yet to collect their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCS) to do so in order to make positive impact in 2023 general elections.

The association in a statement signed by NAWOJ Chairperson and Secretary, Susan Serekara-Nwikhana and Ngozi Anosike respectively to mark this year’s Christmas and 2023 New year celebrations.

Regretting the lacuna in women representation NAWOJ said they stand a better chance of voting the right candidate who would represent them, pointing out that women constitute more than half of the population of Nigeria.

The association also urged INEC to put in place mechanisms for the timely release of the PVCS stating that it would be wrong for people to spend the whole day in INEC offices just to pick up their PVCs.

It further advises voters to vote wisely bearing in mind that the power to birth a new political era lies in their hands and warned them against selling their PVCs.

Wishing all her members, patrons and partners merry Christmas and a prosperous new year, NAWOJ also thanked them for their respective roles in building the association and prayed God to bless them.
