Beatrice Itubo, Labour Party Drags INEC, Sim Fubara, PDP To Court

The Labour Party and its Governorship Candidate Mrs Beatrice Itubo have filed a petition at the Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Port-Harcourt. In the petition, the party seeks the nullification of the Governorship election on grounds of widespread irregularities, violence, voters’ intimidation and suppression which it identified in the 23 Local Government Areas, non-compliance by INEC with the Electoral Act 2022 and its guidelines, and non-qualification of the PDP candidate, Mr. Siminilayi Fubara who was declared winner. The Governorship Candidate Mrs Beatrice Itubo and Labour Party urge the tribunal to nullify the election and order for fresh elections. The party expressed optimism that the judiciary will acquit itself and ensure that justice is done.
The party is being represented by an array of legal luminaries.
