How Peter Obi Made Labour Party To Slash Guber Forms Price, Refund 25 Million To Dead Aspirant

The Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi , has thanked the party for reducing the price of governorship nomination form fromN25 million to N15 million.

LP party  supporters, stakeholders had vehemently rejected  the amount, describing it as outrageous

After Peter Obi’s intervention, the Labour Party has said the nomination forms for the off-cycle governorship elections in Bayelsa, Kogi, and Imo states is now N15 million instead of N25 million. Obi said he had advised that the price which was similar to what is obtainable in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and All Progressives Congress, APC, be reduced.

He also thanked the leadership of the party for heeding his plea to refund N25 million to the family of late Imo governorship aspirant, who died after purchasing the form.

Speaking with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday after meeting with members of the National Assembly-Elect of the party, the national chairman of the LP Julius Abure, said that the party will refund the N25 million nomination fee paid by late Imo State governorship aspirant, Humphrey Anumudu.

“I thank the National Chairman of the Labour Party, Barr. Julius Abure, and the NWC for heeding to my appeal, and reviewing the nomination fee for the governorship form downwards to N15m.

“I applaud them for also agreeing to refund the cost of the form to the family of a deceased aspirant Chief Humphrey Anumudu from Imo State; and agreeing to refund N10m to each of those that had paid,” Obi tweeted.

However the party national chairman, Julius Abure, while addressing newsmen shortly after the political roundtable at Denis Hotel, venue of closed-door meeting between the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi and the LP senators and House of Representatives members-elect in Abuja. The parley, which was held to fine-tune strategies ahead of the inauguration of lawmakers for the 10th National Assembly, failed to commence at 12 noon as earlier scheduled.

Abure stated that both Obi and the party’s National Working Committee were impressed with the quality, willingness to address issues and composition of the new lawmakers-elect.

He said, “Today, we had a very robust engagement with our senators and House of Representatives members-elect. We agreed that we must always remember the magnanimity of the people who freely gave us their mandate.
