NPA Takes Acts Of Kindness To The Streets: Feed Almajiris, Donates Items To Home Of Elderly, PHC Orphanage

In the spirit of the Valentine Day, the Nigeria Ports Authority, Berthing Meeting, Rivers State Complex has donated food stuff and toiletries worth over five hundred thousand naira to the Home of Elderly, Port Harcourt Children Home and some Almajiris in Port Harcourt.

The Chairman of the Nigeria Ports Authority, Berthing Meeting, Rivers State Complex, Ikujuni Ayodeji shortly after distribution of the items along with members of the Charity Committee of the group, said the gesture is an annual activity of the group to show love to the needy in the society.

“As people around the world celebrate valentines’ day with their loves ones, sharing beautiful flowers and many Good things of joy and happiness, we deem it fit to select less privileged, orphans and the Elderly in our immediate environment, in order to make them understand that we love them. We pray for God to help them overcome all their daily challenges,” he noted.

On his part, Secretary of the Nigeria Ports Authority, Berthing Meeting, Rivers State Complex, Collins Obakpolor said the group is always excited to put smiles on the faces of the needy and that the happiness they express mean so much to the group”.

He said, “The Joy and happiness on their faces means so much to us as a group. We are happy as a group that we are able to impact positively on these people. This activity is annually and supported by our members and other well meaning organizations with like minds”, he said.
Representatives of the Home of the Elderly and Port Harcourt Children Homes said they happy that thay are remembered especially on Valentine’s Day.

They expressed some challenges where the Homes need urgent assistance.

We are happy they come to identify with us especially on this special Valentine day. God will replenish your purses. One of the challenges we have at the Port Harcourt Children Homes is that more children come in everyday, we need space, we need more beds, for now we have up to three to four children share a bed space!”.

“Here at the Port Harcourt Home of the Elderly, we are very elated when we hear the Nigeria Ports Authority, Berthing Meeting, Rivers State Complex, is coming for a visit. We are more elated when we saw a big washing machine and other food items, because the machine we have here wasn’t enough to cater for over 38 elderly here, we really feel loved with this gesture. It means so much to us!,” she said.

Our correspondent reports that the Nigeria Ports Authority Berthing Meeting, Charity Committee also distributed packages of food and drinks to Almajiris along Lagos Bus Stop, Emenike and Timber Bus Stop in Port Harcourt
